A simple and flavorful turmeric rice recipe.
Ingredients

- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent.
- Add turmeric powder and stir for 30 seconds.
- Add the rinsed rice and stir to coat with the oil and spices.
- Pour in the water and add salt.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Cook for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of turmeric for a stronger flavor.
- Serve as a side dish or base for your favorite protein.
