- 1/4 cup red vinegar
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil

- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Grate the sweet onion over a bowl to catch juices.
- Warm red vinegar and white vinegar in a small saucepan over low heat.
- Add grated onion and sugar to the warmed vinegars, stirring to combine.
- Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until sauce thickens, then add cornstarch slurry and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely before storing.
Notes
For a different taste, substitute red vinegar with apple cider vinegar, and white vinegar with rice vinegar. You can use honey or agave syrup instead of sugar for a different level of sweetness. Ensure to grate the onion finely for the best results.
