Soft Pretzel Bites with Cheese Dip


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Shape dough into small bites.
  6. Boil water with baking soda. Add pretzel bites for 30 seconds.
  7. Remove and place on a baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For cheese dip, melt butter in a saucepan, add milk and cheese, stirring until smooth.
