Description

A delicately marinated black cod dish that showcases savory flavors rooted in Japanese cuisine, paired beautifully with a sweet and savory miso glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup white miso paste
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 4 black cod fillets
  • Fresh lemon wedges (for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the white miso paste, mirin, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, and sake. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Place the black cod fillets in a shallow dish or resealable bag, pour the marinade over them, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the broiler and line a baking sheet with foil. Remove cod from marinade and place on a cooling rack. Broil for 10-12 minutes until golden and flaky.
  4. Serve fillets garnished with lemon wedges and green onions alongside rice or sautéed vegetables.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate overnight and avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to ensure even cooking.
