A delightful dish that combines sweet, savory, and smoky flavors, perfect for family gatherings or cozy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs – Choose bone-in and skin-on for the best flavor and juiciness.
- 1/2 cup maple syrup – This adds sweetness and a lovely glaze to the chicken.
- 4 cloves garlic – Minced garlic brings a wonderful aroma and depth of flavor.
- 4 slices bacon – Chopped bacon adds a crispy texture and savory taste.
- 1/4 cup soy sauce – This ingredient enhances the umami flavor and balances the sweetness.
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper – A pinch of black pepper adds a subtle kick.
- Fresh thyme sprigs – These are perfect for garnishing and add a touch of freshness.
Instructions
- Rinse the chicken thighs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, minced garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- Cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Marinate the chicken thighs in the maple garlic sauce for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Sear the marinated chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet for 5-7 minutes until golden brown, then flip and sear the other side for 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish, pour the remaining marinade over it, sprinkle with crispy bacon, and bake for 25-30 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
Notes
- Opt for bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs for the best results.
- Adjust the sweetness of the glaze by adding more or less maple syrup.
- Cook bacon slowly over medium heat for perfect crispiness.
