Description

A unique jam that combines the sweetness of strawberries with a spicy kick from jalapeños, perfect for spreading or using as a topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, seeds removed
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 package (1.75 oz) fruit pectin
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash strawberries, hull and chop. Remove seeds from jalapeños and finely chop.
  2. Cook the Fruit: Combine strawberries, jalapeños, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Add Sugar and Lemon Juice: Stir in sugar and lemon juice until dissolved, then gradually add fruit pectin.
  4. Boil and Thicken: Increase heat to a full rolling boil and cook for 5-7 minutes, checking thickness with the wrinkle test.
  5. Jar the Jam: Pour hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving space at the top, and wipe rims clean.
  6. Process the Jars: Process in a boiling water bath for 5-10 minutes. Let cool and listen for seals to pop.

Notes

When using jalapeños, adjust according to your heat preference. Store in a cool, dark place for up to a year.
