Description

Hot Honey Chicken is a savory dish that combines sweetness and spiciness, featuring tender chicken coated in a sticky hot honey sauce, ideal for weeknight dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 12 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh parsley or mint, chopped
  • Lemon zest or juice
  • Optional: toasted sesame seeds or extra chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel. In a bowl, drizzle chicken with olive oil and lemon juice. Mix in paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Allow to marinate for 10-15 minutes at room temperature or up to an hour in the fridge.
  2. For stovetop cooking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear chicken for about 5-6 minutes per side for thighs or 4-5 minutes for breasts until golden brown, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). For oven cooking, preheat to 400°F (200°C), place chicken in a dish, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  3. For the hot honey sauce, combine honey, chili flakes, butter or oil, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan. Heat until bubbling and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Transfer cooked chicken to a serving dish, pour the hot honey sauce over it, sprinkle with feta cheese, and garnish with parsley or mint, lemon zest, and optional toppings.

Notes

For more flavor, allow the chicken to marinate longer and avoid overcooking to keep the meat juicy. Adjust spice levels to your preference.
