  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups (250 grams)
  • Active dry yeast: 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar: 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water: 3/4 cup (180 ml)
  • Yogurt: 1/4 cup (60 grams)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Baking powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
  • Unsalted butter: 4 tablespoons (56 grams), melted
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley: 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Crushed red pepper flakes: to taste
  • Dried oregano: to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Make a well in the center and add yogurt and the frothy yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  4. After rising, punch down the dough, divide it into 6 portions, and roll each into a ball, then flatten to about 1/4 inch thick.
