A quick and delightful dish featuring tender beef, flavorful vegetables, and noodles coated in a savory hoisin sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces noodles (lo mein, rice noodles, or spaghetti)
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until tender but firm. Drain and set aside.
  2. Whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Sear the sliced beef for 2 to 3 minutes until browned, then remove and set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, stirring for 30 seconds. Then, add sliced red bell pepper, julienned carrots, and broccoli florets; stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the pan, add noodles, and pour the sauce over everything. Toss to combine and heat for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef with tofu or tempeh. Experiment with different vegetables according to your preference.
