Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cubed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch and flour.
  2. Dip chicken in egg, then coat with flour mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry chicken until golden brown.
  4. In another pan, sauté garlic and ginger.
  5. Add soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Toss fried chicken in the sauce.
  8. Garnish with green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust spice level by varying red pepper flakes.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables.
