- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add sugar, water, and salt. Stir until the mixture reaches a boil.
- Continue to boil without stirring until it reaches a deep amber color, about 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Once the chocolate melts, spread it evenly and sprinkle with nuts if desired.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
