Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider (for glaze)
- Additional cinnamon sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Measure out one cup of apple cider and heat it in a saucepan for about 10 minutes to concentrate the flavor.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the prepared apple cider, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry mixtures, folding gently until just combined.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan. Fill each cavity with batter and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and apple cider until smooth.
- Once cooled, dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Notes
- Use fresh apple cider for the best flavor.
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
- Allow the donuts to cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
